Who it's for
Offices with departments, apartment and condo buildings (units, common areas, maintenance), HOAs (pool, gym, storage, gates), medical practices, restaurants, schools and warehouses. If more than a few people need different access, a master key system beats a pocket full of keys.
How we set it up
- We walk the property with you and list every door.
- We define who needs what: tenants, staff, managers, maintenance, owners.
- We design the hierarchy and a key chart, leaving room to grow.
- We rekey the cylinders to the system (replacing any that can't be) and cut stamped keys.
- You get the key chart. We keep a copy so future keys and changes stay consistent.
Restricted keyways
A master key is only as secure as its copies. On a restricted keyway, blanks aren't sold to the public, so keys can only be duplicated with your authorization. We recommend it for any system where a lost master key would be a serious problem.
When a key goes missing
With a well-designed system, a lost change key means rekeying one door, not the building. A lost master key is more serious: we'll talk through rekeying the affected level of the system.
What affects the price
- Number of doors and cylinders
- Standard vs. restricted keyway
- Number of keys and levels in the system
- Cylinders that must be replaced
The price on the phone is the price at the door. We quote the total before dispatch and you approve it before work begins. If something changes once we see the lock, we stop and tell you first.
- Lock or hardware typeA standard deadbolt, a high-security cylinder and a smart lock are different jobs.
- Vehicle and key typeMake, model and year; mechanical, transponder, remote or push-to-start key.
- ComplexityOpening a latch vs. a thrown deadbolt; one cylinder vs. a whole building.
- TimeEvening and short-notice work can cost more than a scheduled daytime visit.
- LocationHow far the nearest technician has to drive, and access (gates, garages).
- Required partsCylinders, locks, key blanks, chips and fobs, itemized on the invoice.
